Love is a battlefield, folks — even when you’re famous! NBA star Shaquille O’Neal and his wife of six years are headed for Divorce Court.

News outlets are buzzing about Shaunie O’Neal’s seemingly abrupt filing of legal separation papers, with full “intent” to divorce the Cleveland Cavaliers center. The move sure seems sudden, but she’s apparently not jackin’ around. Shaunie reportedly took the O’Neal children out of school in Florida, where the family lives, and flew out to file a petition in Los Angeles Superior Court, presumably to better position herself for future spousal support.

The divorce petition filed by Va’Shaundya (also known as “Shaunie”) cites irreconcilable differences as grounds for divorce. Va’Shaundya is seeking custody of the couple’s four children, and spousal support.The bombshell comes two years after the NBA start first started divorce proceedings.

Notably the motion for divorce was filed in California, despite Shaquille living in Florida. It’s believed that Va’Shaundya recently moved to California in order to obtain a more favorable divorce settlement.

Shaq and Shaunie split in September 2007 amid allegations that Shaunie was sleeping with her personal trainer and being secretive about her monetary assets. The couple reunited in August 2008 and vowed to work through their problems. But their efforts have not been successful, according to papers filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Monday.
