Vanity Fair readers will get a choice of two different covers Wednesday.

The latest issue of Vanity Fair magazine features a double cover in honor of Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson. Farrah’s cover story “Beautiful People, Ugly Choices” reveals a complicated relationship between the late actress and her life partner Ryan O’Neal, who she was set to marry right before her death on June 25, 2009.

“Two covers seemed like the sensible thing to do, given the passing of two major American icons on the same day,” editor in chief Graydon Carter told Women’s Wear Daily.

Farrah and Ryan had a very dysfunctional relationship for thirty years. The two met in 1979, split up in 1998, and then reconnected in 2001, when he was diagnosed with leukemia. They have a son, Redmond O’Neal, who is currently serving jail time for violating his probation on various drug charges.

The most shocking revelation happens when Ryan, who describes himself as “a hopeless father”, confessed he actually hit on his own daughter, Tatum O’Neal, at Farrah Fawcett’s funeral (photos here) on June 30, 2009.

“I had just put the casket in the hearse and I was watching it drive away when a beautiful blonde woman comes up and embraces me,” O’Neal said. “I said to her, ‘You have a drink on you? You have a car?’ She said, ‘Daddy, it’s me–Tatum!’ I was just trying to be funny with a strange Swedish woman, and it’s my daughter. It’s so sick.”

However he reveals he’s still angry with Tatum for penning a tell-all, saying, “She wrote a book—bitch! How dare she throw our laundry in the street for money!… She didn’t call after Farrah’s show. She’ll have to explain that.”

“That’s our relationship in a nutshell,” Tatum said when asked about it. “You make of it what you will.” She sighed. “It had been a few years since we’d seen each other, and he was always a ladies’ man, a bon vivant.”

Oscar-winning actress Tatum is the daughter of Ryan and actress Joanna Cook Moore. I don’t know what is most outrageous about this story: Ryan doesn’t even recognize his own daughter, Ryan hits on his daughter or Ryan hits on a woman at Farrah’s funeral!

Meanwhile,The Jackson issue will feature an iconic Annie Leibovitz photo from 1989 on the cover and a story from Lisa Robinson, who dug up notes taken during interviews she did with the King of Pop spanning 15 years.
