As a judge on American Idol, Kara DioGuardi helps to make dreams of stardom a reality. July 5, 2009 was a day for the reality personality’s own dream to come true.

American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi married teacher-turned-general contractor Mike McCuddy on Sunday afternoon.

Mike McCuddy, a general contractor, tied the not with Kara DioGuardi on July 5.The wedding was held in Prospect Harbor, Maine at the United Methodist Church across the street from DioGuardi’s home.  The couple got engaged in December and they met when Mike McCuddy, 34 years old, was building a house next to Kara DioGuardi’s house. The two had a small wedding ceremony with friend and family.

“I feel great. What was most unbelievable about the experience was when I look out at the church and saw all these people that were so important to me and Mike, who where there for us. It was pretty powerful. I was very emotional and I’m not somebody who breaks down and cries,” she told In Touch Weekly.

“It’s been raining in Maine for 60 days,” said DioGuardi. “The only day that was nice was yesterday!”
