melissa rycroft engaged

Melissa Rycroft, who was so memorably proposed to and then dumped on national television by Bachelor Jason Mesnick and then twirled her infamy into a stint on Dancing With the Stars, is engaged, Us Weekly reports.
Melissa got back with her ex, Tye Strickland, who she had dated on and off for two years. Now, People has confirmed that the two are engaged.
“He’s my best friend,” Rycroft, 26, gushed to PEOPLE last April about the 28-year-old agent.
“He is a great home-town boy,” Rycroft’s DWTS partner Dovolani told PEOPLE of Strickland. “He will love her endlessly.”
Strickland proposed Friday night at White’s Chapel church in Melissa’s native Texas. After Melissa accepted, they took the celebration out to dinner at Brio Tuscan Grille in Southlake with family and friends. “He had the proposal all planned out in advance and completely surprised her,” a source told Us. “The dinner was a surprise as well. She’s so proud of him for being able to pull it off without anyone finding out!”.There was a large vase of fresh flowers at the table. The whispers around the restaurant were that Melissa and Tye got engaged on Friday and she was presented with a ring in a box featuring its own internal lighting.

Melissaand Tye’s engagement follows a long tradition now of Bachelor and Bachelorette contestants finding love in places other than ABC’s televised beach houses.
To date, only the first Bachelorette, Trista Sutter, has married the person she met on the show, Colorado firefighter Ryan Sutter.
Rycroft announced the engagement this morning on “Good Morning America,” where she will be a special correspondent this summer.
